The most common question asked about taking daily supplements like Omega3 is how much should you be taking on a daily basis? My responses is always the same which I suggest the strictly follow what’s ever printed on the label of the supplement you are taking. There’s a reason they include the recommended amount of daily use on the label of these supplement bottles. That amount has been tested and prevent anyone from overdosing on excess amount of Omega3.
The author of the article I was reading wasn’t really going in depth into the quality of supplements you should be using but since then I have seen a lot of different version of the same Omega3 supplements on the market. I would think it’s best to stick to one brand instead of jumping from one to another.
Name branded supplements can be expensive and the reason for this is because brand name companies like to advertise their product as being the best against their competitors. This advertistment is the #1 reason why a brand name supplement product could cost 2-3x more than a generic supplement. There are quality supplements out there, you’ll just have to do your research to find them.
It’s pretty obvious how much companies overdo their advertising for there product. I clearly understand the point of promoting your product but sometimes companies goes way over board with it.
The company should have a standard recommended dosage for fish oil, based on how much a person weighs. An adult would need to take more than a child. Most companies suggest 1000mg for children over the age of 7 or 8.
Infants and toddlers should get all of the omega-3s that they need from breast milk, infant formula or fortified foods. There has been a lot of focus recently on the importance of DHA for normal brain development and function in infants and children.
DHA is a specific omega-3 found only in fatty fish, some kinds of seafood and marine algae. The manufacturer’s recommended dosage for fish oil should provide a minimum of 280mg of DHA per capsule or 560mg per day for an adult.
Natural supplements like krill oil help improves your brain function, reduce cardiovascular diseases & help strengthen joints. When it comes to choosing the brand the works for you, it’s best to do a good research on that brand of product. I like to read reviews on various sites to get to my conclusion regarding a certain brand. The last thing I always check for is to make sure the label mention that it contains DHA.
If a certain brand of fish oil ain’t working out for you, I suggest you switch to another brand or just start eating food that are naturally loaded with Omega-3.
