Tell them it’s a known fact that you don’t need protein to build muscle, you need Amino Acids! Your body doesn’t use protein directly, it has to be broken down into aminos to be used. And of course all living raw foods have aminos. Look up The Protein Myth on YT by runningraw, show them that video!

Yes I am a vegetarian too. And my family tells me I need to eat meat to have muscle and so I wont be weak. But I feel fine and I really dont think you need meat to survive or have muscle. Also, I believe that meat most of the time doesn’t even digest so there are many health issues there.
