Bio Oil Skepticism Over Anti Aging?

I have recently bought some bio oil for some small scars on my face that are currently in healing process, on the back of the box Bio Oil claims to also prevent anti aging.. curious about how effective this is compared to official anti-aging brands such as Olay etc. I did some research online and one website claims that I quote:
“..contains a number of beneficial plant based oils and nutrients, but these beneficial ingredients are in a base of Paraffinum Liquidum, which is another name for mineral oil. Mineral oil is a petro-chemical derivative and is harmful to the skin. Putting mineral oil on your skin is like wrapping it in plastic wrap. The skin is not able to absorb nutrients and it can’t detoxify, which renders the beneficial ingredients ineffective and results in premature aging.”
This information made me question the effectiveness of the Bio Oil product, should I use this on my skin as an aging preventative? or stick to just using it to soothe my scars?
I am aware that some well known expensive anti-aging brands have been under scrutiny in the past for not helping aging any more than cheaper forms of creams etc. or not at all.. but all in all what’s a skeptic to trust? much help appreciated!! xxx

Over the Counter Wrinkle Creams – How to Choose the Right One

Over the counter wrinkle creams have been growing in popularity ever since they were first introduced. They can, after all, be found almost everywhere, from drugstores, to department stores, to the Internet (of course). From a general perspective, they are all the same, promising to erase (or at the very least, reduce) wrinkles that have been caused by aging or some sort of damage. However, are all of them really telling the truth? Do they work as well as the ads say they do? Knowing which ones are right will help in avoiding the fakes.

The main concern when dealing with over the counter wrinkle creams is the ingredients, and that is also where all the questions and subsequent answers lie. All brands insist that each ingredient can help the skin (sometimes even within minutes of applying the wrinkle cream), depending on how long the product is used. The best thing to when choosing the right over the counter wrinkle cream is to make sure it has a combination of all the most effective ingredients. Among the following are ingredients that are commonly found in wrinkle creams, and may or may not improve the skin.

Retinol is an antioxidant and a vitamin A compound that was used even in the very first wrinkle creams that did not require a prescription. A reason for this is that it is (as an antioxidant) able to eliminate certain radicals, including unbalanced oxygen molecules that are responsible for destroying skin cells and causing wrinkles. It is popular because it is a milder form of Tertinoin, which has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration as a fitting treatment for wrinkle, but can only found in wrinkle cream brands requiring a prescription.

Coenzyme Q10 is another popular ingredient, for it is a nutrient that maintains cell energy production. One of the advantages of having it as an ingredient is that it does not result in any possible side effects, and in fact has been proven to reduce fine wrinkles (especially around the eyes), and can even protect the skin from any form of sun damage.

Various hydroxy acids are also commonly found in over the counter wrinkle creams mainly because they can all act as exfoliants, and therefore will easily eliminate any old, dead skin, replacing it with firmer skin that is more evenly-colored and smooth. However, the disadvantage to having it as an ingredient is that it makes one more susceptible to sun damage. There are people who avoid this ingredient, while others simply put on sunscreen in addition to the wrinkle cream.

Lastly, copper peptides can help heal any wounds on the skin and stimulate the production of collagen, which keeps the skin smooth and younger-looking. They are often placed in wrinkle creams to help retinol by enhancing its effects.

There are other notable ingredients out there but the aforementioned are some of the most commonly used ones, which means that they are often found in popular over the counter wrinkle creams. By knowing which ingredients are right, you will now have an easier time choosing the brand you like most.

Discover the Truth About Over the Counter Anti-aging Skin Creams

You’ve probably heard this a million times, but I’m going to say it one more time…ignore advertising hype.

In order to find the best anti-aging skin creams, you have to ignore the hype.  Additionally, just because a celebrity endorses an anti-aging skin cream does not mean that he or she really uses it.  That celebrity is being paid for their work and the product they promote is more expensive as a result.

Avoid Designer Names
Designer names are another thing to avoid if you really want the best anti-aging skin creams.  Listen to this piece of interesting information.  In order to be even slightly competitive, the manufacturer has to reduce the number of active ingredients in order to cover the licensing fees for the designer name.  That makes me wonder…do you really think fashion designers know anything about anti-aging skin cream?  Probably not, because…

Skincare is Healthcare, Not Cosmetics
Cosmetic companies might like for you to believe otherwise, but skincare is a healthcare topic.  The most effective ingredients have been evaluated by dermatologists and other doctors.  Evaluation is done by these professionals because there are many diseases and health issues that affect the appearance of your skin’s outermost layers; as well as the health and function of your deepest layers.

The things that cause you to look older on the outside can also be caused from the inside.  Oxidative stress, free radical damage, allergic reactions, irritation, inflammation, nutrition, and general poor health are just some of the things that affect your appearance.  So, what to do?

Speed Up Your Body’s Natural Processes
When you are young, your body’s ability to repair itself is truly amazing; as some of us have once experienced.  Yet, due to illness, poor nutrition, or age, your body’s ability to repair itself slows down.  This is true throughout your entire body.  When you see the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, sagging, and uneven pigmentation, the processes that have slowed down include skin-cell, collagen, and elastin fiber production.

The best anti-aging skin creams address all of these issues by speeding those processes up once again.  But, in order to accomplish that feat, certain ingredients must be included in your anti-aging skin cream.

Functional Keratin
Probably the most important compound you can look for is a protein peptide known as Functional Keratin.  Keratin is a protein that is found naturally throughout your body and it is one that makes up your skin’s matrix.

Functional Keratin was created through a patented process.  It can penetrate deeply and be effectively used by your cells on a molecular level.  Clinical research has shown that when included in an anti-aging skin cream, keratin increases skin cell proliferation and firmness.

Only the very best anti-aging skin creams contain Functional Keratin.  The big named over-the-counter brands and designer cosmetics do not contain this ingredient; mainly because it is too expensive to produce.  Other products ordered directly from the manufacturer, with lower overhead, typically have the freedom to spend the time and money to include necessary, healthy, and effective ingredients.

Wakame Kelp Extract
An extract from Wakame kelp has been proven to prevent the breakdown of an amino acid named hyaluronic acid.  Hyaluronic acid is another necessary protein that makes up your skin’s fibers.  In young people, hyaluronic levels are high and at a healthy level.  In older people, they are much lower.

Moisturizers and Antioxidants
If you can find an anti-aging skin cream that contains both Functional Keratin and Wakame, then you will have found a pretty effective product.  Yet, if you can find one that contains those two ingredients plus plant oils and waxes for moisturizing, and antioxidants to prevent free radical damage, then it will be really effective.

The added benefit of proper moisturizers and antioxidants is this.  Dry skin is easily damaged and looks older.  The average moisturizer is not composed of plant oils and waxes, but instead is petrolatum.  Petrolatum actually inhibits the skin’s reparation process.  And antioxidants will prevent the oxidative stress that leads to wrinkles and free radical damage that can cause skin cancer.

The Full Package
The best anti-aging skin creams will contain HE Q10, which is a combination of the antioxidants COQ10 and vitamin E.  In addition, the cream will contain grape seed oil and Babassu wax (moisturizers), Functional Keratin (proteins), and Wakame extract (protein breakdown inhibitor).  And always, as a rule of thumb, look for a manufacturer that guarantees safe products and customer satisfaction.  Believe me, guaranteeing a product with customer satisfaction says a lot about a manufacturer.

I Bet You Did Not Know That Over 100 Million American Consumers Presently Use Anti Ageing Products While Obama Announced – Afghanistan Choice Not Made

In a speech on in a speech on Tuesday night, U. S. President Obama vowed, to deploy 30,000 additional troops to Afghanistan as quickly as possible, setting July 2011 as a date to begin pulling U.S. forces out of the country. This was the new strategy with regards to matters in Afghanistan and Pakistan

According to a survey released by the National Consumers League (NCL), more and more Americans are growing increasingly concerned about the visible signs of aging but they are misinformed about their options for help to battle anti ageing.

This may be a tough dose to swallow, but the hard fact is that over 100 million American consumers presently use or have used anti ageing products or measures in an attempt to reduce their visible signs of anti aging.

According to the anti aging research survey, it was discovered that the majority of consumers, while unsure of the technical details of treatments and products used to promote a youthful appearance, find it acceptable — and even important — to attempt to look younger.

It was found that half of women and men agreed that a youthful appearance is an important factor for professional success. Many of the people surveyed even concluded that it’s by far an important factor in personal happiness as well.

The anti ageing treatments survey results clearly revealed that Americans would prefer to look younger than they actually are. For men, the “ideal” age was 36 (mean age of men surveyed: 49); for women, the ideal age was 34 (mean age of women surveyed: 47).

It was also revealed in the antiaging survey that a youthful appearance is an important factor for professional success (52 percent of women and 50 percent of men). It was found that women were more likely than men to view a youthful appearance as an important factor in personal happiness (37 percent of women and 28 percent of men).

The U.S. market for anti aging products and services exceeded $45.5 billion in 2004. Growing at an average annual growth rate (AAGR) of 9.5%, this market is expected to reach nearly $82 billion by 2010.

Even though there is a widespread interest in appearing young and taking proper anti ageing treatments, this matter is considered to be a very private issue for most Americans. The majority of both men (80 percent) and women (56 percent) have not discussed ways to treat wrinkles or other signs of aging with anyone.

In their battle against anti ageing, respondents agreed that in their labors to turn back the clock are more acceptable today than it was five years ago.

Anti-Aging Products When You Are Over 40

Anti-aging products and great skin… when you are 40 (and up)

No, there’s nothing you can do about the aging process. You cannot reverse it. But you can try to slow it down, gracefully.

There are rejuvenation alternatives; however you should determine how far you can stick up for those. The longer you adhere to un-natural means of combating aging, the deeper you’ll be digging on your pockets.

• Good skin tone, even after 40, is a natural by-product of proper skin care. Proper skin care goes skin deep, too; food rich in micronutrients, which can prevent cellular and molecular damage, have long lasting effect on skin rejuvenation than all clinically-performed rejuvenation procedures combined. Anti-aging products can do wonders, too.

Why do the skin age drastically when a woman reaches 40?

Premature aging of the skin does not happen overnight. The skin naturally ages with time, but aging can be sped up by various external and internal factors; the good news: aging can also be slowed down by skin care products for women.

The sun’s UV rays, even on cloudy days, can cause irreversible damage on the skin. It is advisable to put on sun block with high sun protection factor on exposed areas of the body, face and neck. Too much exposure to the sun causes the skin to dry and for wrinkles to become more pronounced.

A woman’s reproductive hormones diminish when she reaches 40. Due to hormonal imbalance, the skin can lose its elasticity which will induce the skin to sag. Wrinkles start to show.

A woman’s production of sebum, which lubricates the skin, slows down when she reaches 40. As her skin loses its firmness, and starts to sag, her face takes on a different shape or contour, which can make her look older.

The Skin’s Defense

Just like habits, proper skin care or the loss of it develops with time. To play down premature aging, it is advisable for women in their 40’s to start a skin care regimen now, if they have not done so in the past.

 Use sunscreen. This is paramount protection against the invasive effects of the sun’s UV rays on the skin; anti wrinkle skin care products. have high SPF factor, check out your online pharmacy today!

 Take vitamins. Vitamins C and E boost the body’s immune system and protect cells and tissues from free radicals;

 Moisturize. Moisturizers keep the skin hydrated, thus minimizing dryness, which causes wrinkles; glycerin, honey and other natural humectants are very good on the skin, as well as other facial skin care products.

 Go easy on cosmetics: Too much make-up may not be good for all skin types; contrary to the common belief that facial foundation can cover most of facial skin’s imperfections, it can actually make some people look older. Go for lighter application of your make-up, you would look younger;

 Opt for mild skin care products. Aging skin is dry and sensitive. Strong ingredients in facial cleansers and astringents may aggravate the skin’s condition. The alcohol content in some astringents may worsen the skin’s dryness.

There is hope for aging skin; not the fabled fountain of youth, but one’s dedication to nurture the skin and let it age naturally, wonderfully. Aging, after all, is a process everyone goes through, and looking ageless is not much on the physical plane but on one’s outlook towards life, love and living.
